Biochem eco-cleaning The european eco-label

What is the European Eco-label?

It is an official symbol of the European Union (1980/2000 Regulation) for promoting supply and demand of products with a reduced impact on the environment.

It is used for distinguishing products and services which most respect the environment and helping consumers to select such products, and/or for their company to become more "sustainable".

There are three basic reasons for selecting the European Eco-label; the first one is that it is credible because it is based on solid scientific and market studies, and is backed-up by the European Authorities and the Member States.

It is reliable because it is certified by an independent official organization.

It is visible, thus simplifying the choice for clients, it covers several product ranges and companies benefit from joint promotional efforts which the Authorities, both those of the EU and the Autonomous Communities, make for this award to be recognized and for it to increase demand and therefore the number of certifications.

What does it mean when a product obtains the Eco-label?

Obtaining the eco-label means that an independent official organization has checked that the product complies with strict ecological criteria defined by the European Union.

These criteria are determined by the analysis of the life-cycle of the product, which means that all the environmental factors are taken into account "from the cradle to the grave”, in other words, an investigation is made into the environmental impact of the materials and resources used, the manufacturing process, use and consumption, and elimination of the product.

For granting the European Eco-label, taken into consideration, therefore, are the use of natural resources and energy, noise, atmospheric emissions, water pollution, waste generated, its elimination and the effects on ecosystems.

There is a guarantee that the products continue to maintain environmental quality through regular assessments and revisions of their compliance with the criteria by the competent official organization.
